Anyone affiliated with the sponsors, companies, and their relatives involved may not enter. The competition starts January 31st, 2012 and is open to the entire globe. All entries must be fully uploaded by midnight US CST on March 10th, 2012. Entrants must be at least 13 years of age. Registration is required to participate and to download content. Entrants must provide accurate contact information. A valid remix must contain some or all of the vocals from Runaway. Entrants may use the downloadable loops, stems, and samples provided by Madison Park and Soundtrack Loops for this contest only. Entrants may also create their own original music for this content. The use of unauthorized audio and/or music is prohibited by law. Winners will be chosen by Madison Park. The loops, vocals, and music from Sunrise can be used for this contest only. Any use of this material outside of this contest is in violation of copyrights owned by Madison Park.

If you want good remix contest, give us midi files. Second, DRY DRY DRY DRY vocals. Currently, we can’t do anything OWN. This is really shame, as I really liked the vocals, and I want to take part of this competition.

The art of the remix is to take what is given to you and make it your own. That is where the creative genius lies. Anybody with and ounce of creative intuition can easily overcome the “obstacle” of wet vocals. Quitcherbitchin and get to mixin.

I don’t know, we seemed to be getting some great results with the material the band provided so far! I have to admit, I agree with DJM. The performances in this are pretty simple, you should be able to create your own midi by simply playing the same chords and progressions into your sequencer. Thanks to everyone so far by the way there are some wicked remixes uploaded!!

As DJM stated eloquently, use what you’re given. The limitations of the source files, i.e. wet vocals, a single stereo drum track, etc. makes the remix all the more challenging.
For this remix, we were given 10 tracks. Did you use all of them or only a few? Did you wish there were more tracks? If you only had the vocal track, could you do an effective, creative remix? I bet most of us could and have already done so. There’s been some really good remixes and reinterpretations so far. Can’t wait to hear more.

Prediction? Nicada will win this. Its the only remix so far which is of high quality. Not only is the quality good, but Nicada ha managed to keep the original feel of the track while adding on new elements. Killer melody!!

Hey, i have a similar problem to James, but i used the drop bin via soundcloud to upload my remix. Not had any confirmation and i dont see my entry on the above list. I have shared it with the contest group on soundcloud and i did post a link in the tracks comments before the deadline. Just wondered if it was still valid….

Not sure, but listened to Leo zebra a lot of times. but to be honest, its not that good, creative?.. yes.. but i dont think it will sell or even be played in clubs. Not sure what the meaning of the contest was as it seems no benefit is gained on top of the original. To me the Vinny remix is much better and another few of my friends do say the same.
I really like to know what the judges looked for in a track, i mean if someone would have created a better track then the original?, would he or she have won? or is that a potential danger?, with all respect to Leo zebra but i dont think anyone would buy it, like my track. and thus i would never win, i knew that up front and for sure when i heard the other amazing remixes here.
So what were the factors the judges looked for?

The Judges are Madison Park themselves. I find them all worthy . I too had some particulars i liked such as the Dubstep one (Valet) even though i’m not a huge fan of dubstep. But i liked it, thought it was different and good. Congratulations to everyone. You all did amazing

Another question… Now that is clear who won can we use our tracks in a different way?.
What i mean is, those who created their own music on the vocal without using any other instruments from the original?. i guess we can as we own the music we created.
