Soundtrack Loops intros Desert Shanty Guitar Loops & One-shots. Take a generations-old inherited guitar and cross it with a room full of stompboxes and Eurorack modules and you get Desert Shanty, an exposition of music and sound centered at the crossroads of nostalgia and technology. Producer Brian Kupferschmid specializes in creating ambient soundscapes that feature seamless weaves of guitars and synths (check out his work at Bandcamp). Inspired by a vintage archtop acoustic guitar that was passed down from his grandfather, the instrument was used to create a big set of loops with a traditional sound; other electric and acoustic stringed instruments were brought in for reinforcement including bass, lap steel and mandolin. This period-accurate set gradually gives way to stompbox and module-shaped sounds that bring the collection into modernity, before swerving off to the future with modular synth-based drones, sequences, and effects. With a total of 175 90 BPM loops and 29 flexible one shots, Desert Shanty plants a unique flag in a hybrid music zone that completely sets it apart, providing a readymade solution for producers who need music that crosses between worlds. It’s constructed in a way that lets you start anywhere in time, from birth-of-the-blues licks and riffs, all the way over to cosmic grunge and pure electronic forms.
As standard practice for all loops created by the Soundtrack Loops team, Key and BPM are tagged in both metadata and file names.
