  Why We Made This Library

  The PĒRKONS HD-01 is one of the most inspiring electronic percussion instruments available today. Rather than JUST simply sampling individual hits, we wanted to also capture the instrument as it was meant to be played—through evolving patterns, expressive performances, and carefully crafted analog processing. The result is a library that feels alive, giving producers not just sounds, but grooves, movement, and inspiration.

  Behind the Sounds

  Every loop and sample in this collection began with hands-on programming and performance on the PĒRKONS HD-01. We met up with Stewart Hidalgo at his studio and captured the instrument through a premium studio signal chain designed to preserve its analog character while adding new dimensions of depth, punch, and harmonic texture. From clean and precise recordings to heavily colored analog processing, this collection gives producers the flexibility to choose the exact character that fits their production.

  Creating the PĒRKONS HD-01 Drum Library: Two Years of Sound Design, Recording, and Analog Processing

  The PĒRKONS HD-01 is an instrument that rewards experimentation. Its hybrid architecture, powerful sequencer, and unique sonic character make it equally at home creating deep electronic grooves, aggressive industrial rhythms, and unexpected experimental textures.

  Over the course of two years, we explored the possibilities of the PĒRKONS—designing kits, programming patterns, and creating a collection that captures both the raw character of the instrument and the expanded possibilities of boutique analog processing.

  “These sounds were not generated randomly or assembled from presets. Each pattern was performed, edited, refined, and tested to make sure it remained inspiring to play and useful in a production environment.”

  The Recording Process

  To capture the full character of the PĒRKONS HD-01, we recorded every performance through an Antelope Audio Orion 32+ professional audio interface at 24-bit / 48kHz resolution, preserving the detail, dynamics, and unique personality of the instrument. After the initial clean recordings were captured, we created additional processing passes by running the sounds through carefully selected boutique analog hardware, including the Overstayer FET Compressor for added punch, weight, and cohesion, as well as the Thermionic Culture Vulture for rich harmonic saturation, warmth, and aggressive analog character. By providing both the pristine recordings and the hardware-processed versions, producers can choose the exact sonic flavor that fits their production—from clean and precise electronic percussion to heavily colored, character-driven analog textures.
