    What Is ACID Pro 2026?

    If you’ve been creating music for more than a couple of decades, chances are you’ve heard of ACID Pro. Originally developed by Sonic Foundry in the late 1990s, ACID Pro helped pioneer modern loop-based music production. It introduced automatic tempo stretching and pitch matching long before these features became standard in today’s digital audio workstations. Those innovations influenced an entire generation of music software, including Ableton Live, FL Studio, Studio One, and many others.

    For us, ACID Pro is more than just another DAW—it’s part of our story.

    Before co-founding Soundtrack Loops, Jason Donnelly (DJ Puzzle) and Matthew Yost worked at Sonic Foundry, where they helped create loop libraries for ACID Pro during its early years. Those experiences laid the foundation for what would eventually become Soundtrack Loops.

    Boris FX has officially announced ACID Pro 2026, marking a new chapter for one of the most influential music production applications ever created.

    Following Boris FX’s acquisition of ACID Pro from MAGIX earlier this year, the company has modernized the software for current Windows systems while beginning a renewed development effort aimed at bringing ACID Pro into the future.

    As longtime supporters of the platform, we’re excited to see ACID Pro receive fresh investment and continued development.

    Every Soundtrack Loops product is professionally ACIDized, meaning our loops include tempo and key information that allows ACID Pro to automatically stretch and transpose them while preserving excellent audio quality. Whether you’re producing cinematic scores, electronic music, hip hop, rock, or ambient soundscapes, our libraries continue to work exactly as they were designed—only now with the newest version of the software that inspired them.

    Our History with ACID Pro

    “Over the years, our relationship with ACID continued through every chapter of the software’s history. Following Sony’s acquisition of Sonic Foundry, DJ Puzzle was invited to create premium loop libraries for Sony Creative Software. Later, after MAGIX acquired ACID Pro, Soundtrack Loops continued producing content for the ACID ecosystem through Producer Planet.” – Jason Donnelly

    When Sonic Foundry restructured in 2000, Jason Donnelly founded Peace Love Productions, an independent sample library company that initially sold loop collections on burned CDs through eBay.

    At the time, this was a new concept. Most sample libraries were sold in retail stores by a handful of established companies such as Sonic Foundry, Big Fish Audio, Zero-G, Spectrasonics, and AMG. Independent developers were still rare.

    Peace Love Productions quickly embraced digital distribution as well, becoming one of the earliest sample library companies to sell downloadable products online through platforms like Tradebit. Long before today’s instant-download marketplaces, musicians could purchase sample libraries and begin creating immediately.

    The success of Peace Love Productions eventually led to the founding of Soundtrack Loops with Matthew Yost, which has continued producing professional royalty-free loops and samples for musicians, composers, game developers, filmmakers, and content creators around the world.

    Today our catalog includes more than 120,000 royalty-free sounds and has been trusted by producers, educators, and leading music technology companies for more than two decades.
